I have been so bad about blogging lately...tis' the season to be busy! Fall is my favorite time of year for many reasons. Cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes, family get togethers, CHRISTMAS....but one reason I enjoy more and more every year is my Christmas sessions. This is my third season and it is such a joy to capture families every year and witness how they are growing up. I just had to share some images from Luke's first birthday session. He was such a cutie!! He didn't crack many smiles that day but he has the most beautiful pensive look...he was really studying me :)

I very rarely post anything other than my sessions and thought I'd branch out a little and give you some insight to my life whether it be personal, movies, food, music etc. Music has always been influential in my life. It is a physical need for me....it calms me. I truly have eclectic taste ranging from Fleetwood Mac to Michael Buble' from Green Day to Debussy. Growning up I can remember being influenced my parents and family. From my dad.....America, The Beatles, Santana, The Mamas and the Papas, The Byrds From my mom....Abba, Michael Jackson, Hall and Oates, and Rod Stewart. And probably my most significant influence would be my aunt Sandra. My love for Fleetwood Mac, Heart and The Eagles started with her. So, it's not surprising that my dad's cousin's son (basically my third cousin?) has not only the love for music but amazing musical talent!!! Their new cd is enchanting and I can not wait to get mine! Check out Thus Far.

Little Boys Rock!!

This past weekend my cousin (who is like another sister) came down for a visit and asked me to photograph her family. I downloaded the images and rather than working on the family photos I fell in love with her boys portraits!! Often when I am editing and ordering prints from my client's sessions I want to hang them on my own wall. So imagine how happy I am that they are family and I can order one for me!! LOL

I had to order a metal print for myself. WOW! Metal Prints are the latest print option. Printing directly onto an aluminum surface produces rich, vibrant colors and gives a perception of depth to the image. No framing...it has metal brackets on the backside. Recently I have been thinking that I'd like to offer my clients a product that had multiple images and would be something unique. Usually during an ordering session there are 3-5 images that you love but don't necessarily want loose 5x7's. So, this is the 12x12 storyboard! It includes four images, and in the center will be a custom pattern. This would be a beautiful addition to your child's bedroom!

This past weekend was my brother in law's wedding. Since this was going to be a big wedding with tons of friends and family we all hadn't seen in years I only brought my camera to catch some fun shots. Texas School Rocks!

This past week I attending the annual Texas School of Photography in Arlington, TX. All I can say is WOW!!! It's a week long conference full of learning, trade show (goodies to buy) and fellow photographers. My instructor was Ralph Romaguera from New Orleans who specializes in high school seniors. His class was also on studio management and lighting for studio and outdoors. By the second day my head felt like it was going to explode from all the new information!! On the last night we had a "shoot out" in Addison Park and each instructor had set up their models for a session. So, for two hours I walked around to each instructor and photographed using new techniques and knowledge learned over the week. I can not wait to attend next year!!!

When it comes to portrait photography, clothing plays a huge role in the success of the finished product.

Let’s be clear what you’re clothing does NOT need to be:

1. Brand New I’m down with your favorite ripped jeans, retro band T’s, and worn converse shoes – as long as you know how to rock them in your own fabulous style.

2. Fancy-Schmancy and Uber-Expensive Unless it’s your thing (If it’s really your thing, then by all means baby, bring on the bling). If you’re not normally a dress-up kind of person, don’t feel like you have to be one for your session.

3. Matching No need to focus on matching everything from the color of your fuchsia headbands to the stripes in your socks. In fact, I beg of you, please, please don’t. If you’re heart is set on everyone in white button downs and khaki pants, I’m probably not your girl.

4. Stressful No need to worry about each and every item, or fret about the suitability of each accessory. This is supposed to be fun. If you’re unsure – call me and we’ll make sure you look fabulous. I promise.

Over the Christmas holidays I got to photograph Mr. T and Ms. A. Mom and I were in girl scouts together and lived a block away and spent many days playing around our neighborhood. I saw the first sign of Christmas the other day in a store....already?! It seems gets earlier every year. Christmas is five months away and if you want to get a jump on it now is the time. You will want to call and book a session before my calendar is full. In order to get your cards in early December (and not stress myself out in the process) my deadline for Christmas sessions is October 31st. For those who procrastinate (don't we all?) we can do it in November but there will be a rush fee. The package above is only one of the options available. Contact me for a more detailed price list. Here is a preview from my session with Molly, Clyde, Spanky, Panda and Blue....yes, 5 sweet dogs! These are my favorites from each one of the dogs and later I will post some more. Each personality was apparent from the beginning. Panda and Spanky being the oldest, pretty much stayed out of my way and observed. Molly and Blue were all about getting pet...and giving you kisses. I always have a birthday photoshoot with my kids. Usually in the same week as their birthday. Well, my baby boy's came and went in May so I am super late!! He has hit the big 5!!! He is pure attitude and I would not have it any other way. He has his daddy's dry, smart "A" mouth, and he can turn around 5 mins later and tell me I am the most beautiful mommy. He loves the Wonderpets, Goosebumps, his best friend Mr. C, and his brothers...most of the time..lol! Love you baby!!!

{Summer Dreaming}

This past weekend I headed to South Padre with my husband and kids in tow. I had every intention of photography two families so I could use their images as advertising for the beach sessions I have planned for this summer. Well, add 40 mph winds and needless to say I called off the photo shoot! But Saturday was spent in the sun with family and good friends, and Sunday morning I snuck out of the hotel room grabbed a coffee and headed to the beach to catch the sunrise with my camera. What a blessing! I could not have asked for a better weekend! The beach sessions will be planned on June 26-28th, July 24-26th, and August 14-16th. Also, the session fee will be $100. If you are interested in booking call now, space is very limited!

This past weekend I had the pleasure of photographing the E family. Mom was wanting something different..and for a photographer that means time to play! Mr. L has such a great smile and was so much fun. Miss H was a little shy at first but by the end of the shoot dad figured out the magic word and she was all smiles and giggles!! What a beautiful family these three are. Mr. H was the sweetest, cutest little boy ever. His blue eyes and beautiful smile...a dream to photograph. I got to use my antique pram baby stoller for the first time, and had to use the bowl. This is the second time I have had the pleasure of photographing these two brothers. Mom wanted to go for an urban shoot, and I was excited to try it! Yesterday was an adventure...new location, new props and the sweetest little boy! I so got my baby fix...he's absolutely precious. (Mom) was on the high school drill team with me. We hadn't seen each other in...I won't say how many years! Your son is beautiful, and you are truly blessed.
